Infographics: Wine Not?

Original Source: Different Types of Wine

Infographics are an obvious content solution. They’re an attractive way to provide information to your target audience, while seamlessly fusing your creative heavyweights: copy and design. While infographics may seem like a hip new invention, infographics have existed for hundreds of years, compartmentalizing data for readers in useful, visual ways.

While we could spout a bunch of statistics about the value of infographics for your content marketing strategy, we can bet (without looking), there are quite a few infographics already doing just that. Meta, right?

So instead of inundating you with the facts, we’re here to share a case study of an effective infographic strategy we discovered during our daily content research: Wine Folly’s The Many Different Types of Wine.

This infographic was so shareable, it landed a spot on content-behemoth, BuzzFeed. Talk about a PR goldmine for Wine Folly. So why do we think this infographic is so fruit-forward?

Let’s break it down:

1. Creating Targeted Content

Who loves wine? Millennials. Who also loves spending money online? That’s right: millennials. Every day, new research pops up about millennials reshaping the wine market. With high-paying tech jobs and low levels of responsibility (many millennials are forfeiting children for travel and high-end living), millennials are able afford the $40 bottles of wine their parents may have passed on. Just as winemakers are smart to develop relationships with their younger customers, content providers are smart to use wine to drive traffic.

Enter Wine Folly, a content provider that simplifies wine for online audiences. Yes, it’s true, Wine Folly uses great content to make money. And yes, you can too.

2. In the Know

Social media and content have taken off, because they make internet users feel “in the loop.” Facebook makes you a part of a club, where people “like” and support you, and social content keeps you up-to-date on topics you wish you knew more about: news and what’s hip (in this case, wine).

Wine Folly’s chart draws on something that’s in-fashion and makes you a connoisseur. Read this infographic, and you, too, can be in the cool club.

3. SEO-Friendly

No digital content discussion would be complete without mention of SEO. While there are plenty of content marketers ready to whine (no pun intended) about the limitations of SEO copy, Wine Folly’s infographic proves great content can also serve a traffic-driving purpose. As you probably already know, Google’s crawlers can’t read images, and thus, images don’t provide SEO value. To remedy this situation, Wine Folly published their infographic around keyword-rich 500+ words of text. The text is not only informative, but adds context to the chart and provides internal links to other content-rich pages on their site.

You can even buy the infographic as a poster for your home. Yes, you can have your keywords and create art-worthy content too.

4. Linkbuilding

We can’t say for sure whether Wine Folly pitched Buzzfeed or Buzzfeed reached out to them, but either way, getting a link on Buzzfeed is an incredible linkbuilding strategy worth considering. High-level media outlets provide invaluable traction to your site. How do you think we found this infographic in the first place? See how we’re sharing it too?

At Coalition Technologies, we love making infographics. Infographics allow our restless creatives to stretch their copy claws and photoshop talons and create something new and interesting that serves your business’s needs. Need to drive traffic? There’s an infographic for that!

Los Angeles Brochure Designers | The Fundamentals of Brochure Design

No matter how digital our world becomes, brochures remain a powerful and invaluable tool in any marketing arsenal. Whether you’re running a booth at a trade show, driving business to your new fashion boutique, or trying to bolster your real estate enterprise, brochures can quickly turn curious onlookers into loyal clients. But not all brochures are created equal. At Coalition Technologies, our professional Los Angeles brochure designers understand what it takes to make the most solid impression every single time. If you’re interested in incorporating high-quality brochures into your own marketing strategy, it’s important to understand the fundamentals.

There are three important factors that go into a great brochure: design, content, and relevance. If you can master all of these key ingredients, your brochures are sure to benefit your enterprise in a big way. However, if you fall short in even one of these areas, you may be wasting money on brochures that fail to reach even a fraction of their true potential. So let’s take a look at these important factors individually:

Design

This one goes without saying. An eye-catching design is paramount because that first impression is what drives people to pick up your brochure in the first place. Depending on your budget constraints, you will want to strive for high-definition images and/or designs, accompanied by plenty of contrasting vibrant colors. Be careful about clashing color schemes. For instance, if you have purple letters against a black background, the whole layout will be difficult to read and generally unappealing. Use designs and images that reflect your overall brand while being pleasing to the eye.

Content

You’ve heard the acronym K.I.S.S., or “Keep it Simple, Stupid.” When it comes to content, you want to say as much as you can in as few words as possible. Highlight the key points that are most appealing to your target audience, and be succinct about it. Don’t get swept up in long-winded narratives, or you will lose a considerable percentage of your readership early on. Emphasize what matters, offer enticing deals (if applicable to your brochure), keep it positive, and include calls to action (“Visit our website,” “Buy now,” “Take advantage of this great deal while it lasts”).

Relevance

Your content and design should be tailored to your particular audience. For instance, if you’re selling luxury homes on the beach, your approach will be far different than if you’re promoting a rock music festival in the desert. It’s important to keep your core audience at the forefront of every creative decision you make, from the colors to the typeface to the emphasized message. For this, you’re going to need to employ a bit of marketing and branding savvy.

Magento Customization

Magento is one of the most popular ecommerce platforms for businesses of all sizes. If you need to open an online store or transition an existing store to a new platform, using Magento will simplify the process by providing you with the tools you need to build and manage a store. However, while using Magento is easier than building a store from scratch, the platform has multiple customization options that impact how your store performs and how you manage it.

Using these options to create a better online store is often self-explanatory. However, there are also customization options that are less intuitive — or not as well known — as others. To help you make the most of your Magento experience, let’s explore some of the lesser known customization options. You will probably be able to use some of the options on your own; utilizing others may require the help of a Magento partner, such as Coalition Technologies.

Administration Session Lifetime

If you spend hours editing product descriptions only to find that your administration session has timed out when you try to save the changes, you need to increase the number of seconds before administration sessions automatically shut down. You can do this on your own by following the commands: System > Config > Admin > Security > Session Lifetime. Customizing the time of administration sessions makes it easier to spend time fine tuning your store’s copy.

Nesting Static Blocks

If you have lots of data in your website’s CMS > static blocks, you can divide the content in each block by using Widgets to combine several blocks into a single block that is displayed on a category page or a product page. Nesting static blocks makes the information in the blocks more digestible for end users, which can help reduce the bounce rate for your website. If you need help customizing your store’s static blocks, Coalition Technologies will help.

Ratings Management

Because people tend to trust the opinion of their peers more than they trust the opinion of businesses that are trying to sell them something, customer ratings are some of the most powerful pieces of marketing content you can have. To add more rating criteria for what you sell, just use the following commands: Catalog > Reviews & Ratings > Manage Rating. Then enable star rating criteria. The ratings management function can be managed at the store view level.

Tier Pricing

A helpful Magento customization option for sales promotions, tier pricing lets you price items by quantity. For example, you can run a promotion where a single item sells at regular price but five of the item sell for a discounted price. You can do this by using the commands: Admin > Catalog > Managed Products. Then select the item you want to discount. Go to Prices > Add Tier. Enter the quantity of the item (“qty”) to enable tier pricing. Enter the “price per item” and click save.

Customized Landing Pages

Hundreds of Magento design templates are available from third party designers that target the shopping cart software market. However, these templates typically score low on the originality scale; unless you buy an exclusive license to a template, you probably won’t be the only one using it. Pre-designed  templates’ lack of originality combined with a $2,500+ fee for acquiring an exclusive license is why many companies opt for custom templates.

If you want your Magento store to stand out from the crowd, designing custom landing pages is the way to go. If your business doesn’t have a web design department, partnering with a web design firm that understands the Magento platform, such as Coalition Technologies, is the best option. We’ve helped hundreds of companies with Magento customization projects that entailed designing unique landing pages for Magento Enterprise and Community editions.

Product Alerts Notification

This is a Magento customization option that notifies customers when a product goes on sale or arrives back in stock. You can allow customers to sign up for an alert notification by going to the Product Alerts section and setting the “Allow Alert When Product Price Changes” to “Yes” and setting the “Allow Alert When Product Comes Back in Stock” to “Yes.” Product alerts notification is a dynamic feature that can truly help your store sell more products.

QR Codes on Website – Developers in Los Angeles

QR codes (or Quick Response Codes) are taking over. If you’re scratching your head wondering, “What the heck is a QR code?”, you should probably just ask your children. Most likely they’ll be the ones who know, as the youngest among us tend to be the savviest about emerging trends, but these trends can undoubtedly leave one’s head spinning. We now live in a world that revolves around hash tags, tweets, apps and pins. Sometimes it can be difficult just to distinguish our OMGs from our LOLs. Go back in time just 10 years, and people will think you’re speaking a foreign language. QR codes fit perfectly into this mold: they’re high-tech, they’re useful, and they’re confusing. In other words, you should be implementing them right now. At Coalition Technologies, we have you covered. We employ a full highly qualified team of QR Codes on Website – Developers in Los Angeles.

QR Codes on Website – Developers in Los Angeles

Okay, so that’s all well and good, but what exactly is a QR code? If you have conducted a Google search for “QR codes on website – developers in Los Angeles,” or anything similar, you probably already understand that QR codes have serious value, and that you should be paying attention. But you still may be a bit fuzzy on what these codes actually do.

A QR code (TM) is a specialized bar code that you can take your customers instantly to the web page or application of your choosing. You have undoubtedly seen them around, on buildings, fliers, menus and even ketchup bottles. They are square bar codes with black and white patterns that resemble static on an old-fashioned TV. They feature small squares located in the upper left, upper right and lower left corners.

Smartphone and tablet users can take digital snapshots of these barcodes using QR reader apps. The barcode signals the app to access a specific URL, and takes you straight to a desired location. Originally, the technology was used to track inventory in Japan’s booming automotive industry, but today, it is used more widely as a tool for businesses to improve traffic and sales, and the results are astounding.

The Benefits of QR Codes

According to a study from comScore, more than 14 million American mobile users scanned QR codes just in June of 2011. That’s more than 6 percent of mobile users in the country. If you’re not using QR codes for your business, you’re missing out on tremendous revenue potential.

When people see a URL on a flier, website or TV advertisement that reads, “Visit us online at www.ourwebsite.com”, only a small percentage will actually track down the site. But QR codes have a much higher click-through rate, for multiple reasons. First, they spark people’s curiosity. Second, they’re fun to scan. Third, nobody has to remember or manually enter the URL. And finally (and perhaps most importantly), it’s like having your own personal hyperlink that you can use anywhere. It doesn’t need to be on a web browser. You can place your QR code on a sheet of paper, on your product packaging, or even on a billboard. Mobile users can then scan the code and instantly access your website. What other technology offers that kind of convenience and freedom?

Netsuite Review | Los Angeles Netsuite Designers & Programmers

Attempting to review NetSuite is like attempting to review a restaurant. There are so many different menu items to consider, where does one begin, and do we judge the entire establishment on one key dish, or do we average out the highlights? It’s tricky, because NetSuite is not a single program, but rather a collection of interrelated programs, each of which serves a unique business function. At Coalition Technologies, our Los Angeles NetSuite designers and programmer work with every facet of the NetSuite family on a daily basis, and we have found that when you put it all together, NetSuite is truly in a league by itself.

NetSuite – Breaking it Down

When it comes to business, one of the most popular and versatile NetSuite selections is SuiteCommerce, the NetSuite eCommerce solution. Like other eCommerce platforms, SuiteCommerce enables you to easily build and maintain a website for your business, complete with product listings, categorized pages and order processing. But NetSuite takes it one step further. Rather than simply enabling you to create a website, SuiteCommerce fluidly integrates a range of essential business operations by allowing you to incorporate the company’s trademark CRM and ERP services into your agenda.

So in other words, you can handle site management, financial accounting, customer relations and marketing all from one simple platform, all while utilizing the full benefit of cloud computing across your entire network. These capabilities are nothing short of astonishing, and that’s why NetSuite has become the new standard for business management in the online world. PC Magazine gave NetSuite its coveted  Editors’ Choice rating, and the software has won tech awards and accommodations the world over. Here at Coalition Technologies, our Los Angeles NetSuite designers & programmers also give it their highest recommendation.

No Software Is Perfect

Of course, even NetSuite has its shortcomings, and we would be remiss if we didn’t at least mention them. For starters, NetSuite may not be the best solution for the less tech-savvy business owners. With great power comes great complexity, and for someone who’s seeking a simple point-and-click eCommerce solution, NetSuite may not be the best way to go. Second, the eCommerce software does leave a lot to be desired when it comes to design and customization. That’s why we recommend hiring custom developers to help you bring out the best in your website. This isn’t entirely the fault of NetSuite, of course. Customization is a tricky issue with any eCommerce system because in order to truly make the platform your own, you have to get your hands dirty with a bit of code. If you would like to build your brand online and get the most from your NetSuite experience, consider hiring our Los Angeles NetSuite designers & programmers.

Why You Should Hire Los Angeles WordPress Designers & Developers

WordPress is changing the way that people conduct business online. What started out as a simple blogging platform is now the undisputed world leader in content management solutions. After all, WordPress is free to use, simple to learn, and quick to edit. Whether you’re looking to create a small online journal or a global business enterprise, WordPress is more than equipped to handle your needs. But as user-friendly as it is, you’re still going to want a bit of help to stretch this powerful engine to its full potential. Consider the benefits of hiring Los Angeles WordPress designers and developers.

WordPress – A Worthwhile eCommerce Solution

WordPress no longer brands itself as a blogging solution because blogging is just the tip of the iceberg. By installing the right plugins and tweaking a bit of code, you can create the website of your dreams, no matter what your industry or purpose. But there’s at least one distinct disadvantage to the popularity of WordPress; there are now close to 71 million WordPress websites in the world, and that number continues to grow each day. With such abundant competition, the new challenge is determining how to distinguish yourself or your business. This is why it can be so useful to hire the Los Angeles WordPress designers and developers at Coalition Technologies.

Even the most professional, premium themes are becoming over-saturated in the digital marketplace, and although it’s easy to create a competent business website, it’s not so easy to build a unique brand, at least not with the stock configurations. If you want to set yourself apart and create something that’s truly eye catching, original, and reflective of your individual brand, you’re going to need access to custom developers and designers working specifically to bring your vision to life.

The Benefits of Hiring Los Angeles WordPress Designers and Developers

But branding is only one piece of the puzzle. Yes, you want something that’s visually unique, but your WordPress developers can do more for you than just create flashy graphics, borders and logos. There are other essential functions to consider, such as search engine optimization (SEO). Nowadays, all major businesses are investing in SEO in order to secure those top search engine rankings, and if you aren’t at least giving marginal focus to SEO, your site just won’t have a chance.

At Coalition Technologies, our Los Angeles WordPress designers and developers know how to optimize the back end of your WordPress site, ensuring that your sitemaps, tags, links and keywords are all equipped to give you the maximum SEO value. And did we mention that your website will look amazing? When you make the smart decision to invest in your WordPress site with a professional helping hand, you will see a return on your investment that spans many times over. So what are you waiting for?

Contact Coalition Technologies

At Coalition Technologies, we’re not like other design firms. We don’t simply hire a couple of “Jack of all Trades” gurus to handle all aspects of design and development. We hire specialists in each field, so when you work with us, you can have confidence in knowing that your site is being handled by a wide variety of experts in our design department, our development department, and our SEO department. We don’t take any shortcuts because your business is too important. Best of all, we understand WordPress inside and out, and we know how to modify the platform to its full potential.

If you would like to learn more, give us a call at 1-310-827-3890 and tell us a bit about your business. We’ll give you a free quote, and lay out a game plan for your business. So let’s get started, and let’s truly put WordPress to work for you!

What to Look for When Hiring CoreCommerce Designers

CoreCommerce is one of the most versatile eCommerce platforms on the market, but unfortunately, the software doesn’t exactly make it easy to create and implement custom designs. For starters, you can’t manipulate the HTML and PHP by default; that requires a lot of specialized back-end configuration. If you’re not a designer, you may find yourself extremely limited by the neatly assembled but basically vanilla template layouts. If you want to truly make your CoreCommerce site your own, you’ll want to call on the assistance of some qualified CoreCommerce designers.

But the question remains, how do you choose the best CoreCommerce designers to meet your needs? You can go with the company’s own in-house designers, but that’s a bit like getting your car repaired at the dealership. You’ll pay twice as much for cut-rate service. When it comes to third-party designers, there are a lot of great options out there, but also a lot of ripoffs. The secret is learning to distinguish the worthwhile from the truly appalling.

Choosing CoreCommerce Designers

Whether you’re choosing a nanny, a dentist or a CoreCommerce designer, it’s all about patience and diligence. Take the time to learn your various options, check out the consumer reviews, and talk to all of the possible candidates. Ask questions, express your needs, and find out if your prospective designer actually understands your vision and has the ability to bring it to life. When it comes to CoreCommerce designers, there are a few specifics that you need to look out for:

  • Whether they pick up the phone. If the designer doesn’t want to talk to you over the phone, or just doesn’t provide any contact information other than a general contact form, this is a huge red flag.
  • Find out if you’re getting development services, or design only. If you want to navigate the labyrinth of the CoreCommerce back end, you really need a designer and a developer working for you. Find a firm that can accommodate both of these essential needs.
  • Ask about the designer’s experience with CoreCommerce. It’s absolutely critical that they be intimately familiar with the platform because unfortunately, CoreCommerce doesn’t make it easy to manipulate its templates and configurations.
  • Ask to see the designer’s previous work, and learn all about the company’s previous clients. You should see a thorough list of accomplishments before making the investment.

Consider Coalition Technologies – Not Your Average CoreCommerce Designers

At Coalition Technologies, we employ a full-time team of developers and designers based in Los Angeles, all of whom have worked extensively with CoreCommerce and are prepared to take your eCommerce website to the next level. Take a look at our portfolio, and then give us a call at 1-310-827-3890 to receive a free quote and learn more about us. Don’t hesitate another moment.

BigCommerce vs. Magento

BigCommerce vs. Magento

There are a lot of powerful eCommerce platforms out there that can help you build and maintain a wonderful online store. How do you choose the right platform for your business? In this article, we’ll go over the strengths and weaknesses of two of the top eCommerce platforms on the market: BigCommerce vs. Magento. We feel that BigCommerce has an edge over Magento, but in the end the two are different programs that offer different advantages depending on who is using them. Read on for more.

BigCommerce Advantages and Disadvantages

BigCommerce is probably the best eCommerce platform you can find on the market. This program is easy to use, full of great features, well supported by an excellent customer service team, and makes worldwide shipping easy due to the company’s international presence. For an affordable payment scheme, you get a powerful set of tools to set up your dream store.

What advantages does BigCommerce offer? Well, the program is incredibly intuitive, and it is quick and easy to set up a store. It also offers tons of useful tools: great third party plugin support, excellent statistical and analytical tools, great SEO options,  single page checkout and cart saver systems for increased conversions, email marketing, photo gallery creator and zoom function, social media support, mobile support, inventory management, coupon and discount options, and much more.

BigCommerce does have a minor disadvantage. Though the program has tons of basic templates, they’re mostly pretty plain and won’t help your store design stand out among your competition. You need to dive into the customization options a little more if you really want something special. This isn’t a huge problem, since the software is so easy to use, and you can always get a professional web designer who knows BigCommerce to help you.

Magento Advantages and Disadvantages

Magento is a powerful eCommerce platform that was made with developers and designers in mind. Magento is our second pick for shopping cart solutions due to its advanced customizability and powerful store tools. Magento also has some downsides to it as well, such as its inaccessibility to beginners and weak support.

Let’s start with Magento’s advantages. This is a big, powerful, comprehensive program. The customization options are virtually limitless, so you can make any kind of online store you can think of. Magento also offers multi-store capabilities, constant updates and bug fixes, tons of templates and third party plugins, great inventory management, SEO tools, email marketing, product search, mobile device support, international shipping, and more. Magento has it all.

The major drawback to Magento is the platform’s inaccessibility. For beginners, it is very difficult to get started on Magento and build a website quickly and easily. The program has a steep learning curve and you need to know a fair amount about design and coding to do anything interesting. The upshot of this is that you can download the Magento Community Edition for free, but then you have to explore the complicated program yourself with no formal support. Magento Go offers some simpler templates and better accessibility, but the program has nowhere near the functionality of BigCommerce. To make full use of the system, the Enterprise Edition is the way to go, which carries a higher price tag. This is an eCommerce platform that takes a professional web designer to make full use of its potential.

Conclusion

When it comes to BigCommerce vs. Magento, our favorite eCommerce platform is definitely BigCommerce for its accessibility and rich array of features and customization options. However, both platforms are among the best on the market, so you can’t go wrong with either one. To make the most out of these solutions, we recommend hiring a web design firm to help you with your store design and marketing. In fact, Coalition Technologies specializes in BigCommerce and Magento; we’ve built countless online stores for our clients on these platforms. Give us a call today at 1-310-827-3890 and we’ll give you a free quote.

Amazon Webstore Design Agency – Choosing the Right Partner

Here’s a question for you: How can you truly build a thriving business out of an Amazon Webstore? If you already have a Webstore up and running, you have probably asked yourself this very question a time or two. Well, we have the answer. If you want your Webstore to truly soar, you need to treat your store less like a social media profile, and more like a business! What do we mean? As an Amazon Webstore Design Agency, we see far too many businesses giving “the Facebook treatment” to their Webstores. In other words, they sign up, follow the on-screen prompts, and choose their options and configurations based solely upon what’s presented to them. They choose a layout, a few fonts, and a set of preferences, and then call it a day.

That might be great for a social media profile, but it’s no way to build a business.

How to Get the Most from your Amazon Webstore

Whether you’re selling books, vinyl records or lawnmowers, you have competition. A lot of it. And your competition is working tirelessly to establish itself as the industry leader. That means paying attention even to the seemingly minor details, like slogans, ease-of-use, and even designs. That’s right. The Amazon eCommerce program provides some excellent opportunities to build an eCommerce store, but if you’re relying on pre-designed templates without an ounce of customization, your site will inevitably appear bland and generic, and that will hurt your business. They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but human nature dictates otherwise. If you want to establish an airtight brand and build customer appeal and loyalty, your Amazon Webstore must not only function well, but look fantastic. This is where a qualified Amazon Webstore design agency can become an invaluable asset.

Choosing the Right Amazon Webstore Design Agency

Amazon allows a great deal of customization freedom, which is great for businesses looking to set themselves apart from the pack. In order to take advantage of this freedom, though, you’re going to need a few key ingredients. First off, design is only half of the puzzle. You can have the best designer in the world, but if he or she doesn’t know how to implement those designs within the framework of an Amazon Webstore, you’re just going to have a lot of pretty pictures taking up space on your hard drive. So what you really need is a firm that provides expert designers and developers who work hand in hand with one another.

Additionally, you need to hire an expert or firm that has experience working with Amazon Webstores. Amazon uses traditional CSS and JavaScript files, but the company organizes them within its own individual, often convoluted system. So it’s not enough to simply understand design and development. Your partner needs to understand how to navigate the Amazon CMS with ease.

Finally, review the portfolios of any potential designers, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. At Coalition Technologies, we always make our portfolio available because we believe that our work speaks for itself, and we pride ourselves on having worked with some of the nation’s leading businesses. We also have extensive experience working with Amazon Webstores, so you won’t have to worry about any unpleasant surprises.

Los Angeles Graphic Designers Can Benefit Your Business

What is Graphic Design?

Graphic design is creativity. It’s design and color, images and graphics, messages and communication. It’s visual and virtual, stimulating and persuasive. It’s here and it’s there. No matter where we are, graphic design is all around us.

More specifically, graphic design is an artistic process used to communicate a visual message, taking images and words and applying them to different types of media like websites, logos and branding, brochures, advertisements, and more. It also falls under the broader spectrum of illustration, which includes niche areas like advertising art and fine art.

Our Los Angeles graphic designers use visual arts, page layout, patterns, colors, and other elements to create a balanced and focused look.

Interestingly, graphic design, in some form, has been around since the very early days of cave paintings and Roman Trajan Columns. It has only recently evolved into a more marketing-friendly tool with the popularity of visual communication in the last century.

How Los Angeles Graphic Designers Can Benefit Your Business

los angeles graphic designersThe ultimate goal of advertising is the sale of goods and services. Graphic design can be a great way to get the message out about your business. It’s an artistic representation of you and your brand and can be an incredibly effective method of conveying emotions, moods, and experiences.

For instance, if you own an online perfume and fragrance shop, your customers obviously can’t make a decision to purchase your product based upon how much they like the smell of the fragrances you sell. Good graphic designers can take a picture, utilize the senses, and create a visual image of the emotional benefits of buying your fragrances.

It’s also worth noting that a powerful image can make or break a business. Pictures, graphics, and artwork tell a story and grab the attention of your audience. Making a favorable initial impression compels people to buy your product or service.

How They Do It

Your business needs lots of things to not only attract customers, but keep them coming back.  Everything from the location of your business (if it’s a storefront) and how well it’s maintained, to competitive pricing and expert knowledge of your product or service, makes the difference as to whether you develop and maintain a thriving customer base.

Staying top-of-mind and developing a brand you believe in is imperative today in the age of Internet marketing. The Web heightens the accessibility of goods online, and with just the click of a mouse, products and services are available in an instant, with every business vying for a piece of the action.

Professional graphic design offer customers a variety of creative ways to engage, enjoy, and remember your brand. Your brand becomes the reason for the existence of your business.

With an ever-changing digital landscape and more and more people using various devices like smartphones, PDAs and tablets, you need to create a solid user interface experience for Web surfers. Your website should also have responsive design capabilities – the ability to provide easy reading and navigating with very little resizing, minimizing or scrolling.

Create a Logo

First things first, you need an attractive logo that represents the essence of your business and leaves a lasting impression in the minds of potential customers. Graphic designers work directly with your business to develop pictures, symbols and words that communicate your company’s purpose, making it distinct and more appealing than anything else out there.

Business Advertising

Graphic designers use print and television, as well as the Internet, to disseminate a message and narrate the story of your business. The goal is to get people interested in buying what you’re selling.  And because advertising is constantly changing, ads must be crisp and fresh in order to keep you competitive in the global market.

Develop an Online Presence

A graphic designer will customize online ads and websites to provide what a potential customer needs to determine whether you are:

  • An authority in your industry
  • Worthy of their trust
  • Customer-centric

You’ll be ahead of the game because people are automatically drawn in by professional graphic design – it gives them the opportunity to learn new things about your company and your brand, and with internet competition being as crowded as it is, strategically placed ads and a professionally designed website compel potential customers to make the choice to do business with you. That’s what effective graphic design does. It sells your brand.

Effortless Communication

la-graphic-designersThe most basic and fundamental aspect of graphic design is communication. Yours should be a message that is conveyed with very little effort or guesswork on the part of your audience. No need for super fancy artwork or graphics; the last thing you want to do is sacrifice the message.   On the other hand, poor graphic design can keep your business from reaching its fullest potential. That’s why it’s important to hire a graphic designer who can take your company’s mission and ideals and put together a package the represents your brand with precision and clarity.

While it continues to emerge and evolve, the Internet is at the mercy of every passing technological whim, making it difficult to determine what works at the right time to get your business noticed online.

Skin Trends – The Most Beautiful Magento Website Ever?

Skincare products abound on the web, thanks to small brands building their own sites and selling through larger ecommerce stores. However, many of these websites focus their energies on the products, rather than on the needs of the consumer. The customer is forced to go through seemingly endless pages of products that may not offer real solutions to their skincare concerns. But it’s not so easy to devise a system where consumers can get real consultations online. One-on-one consultation time is something special, which is why SkinTrends.com is such a unique website concept.

Skin Trends brings the benefits of personalized skin care assistance to the web, by offering customers the chance to receive free consultations via Skype. Real estheticians can recommend specialized treatment packages that benefit the customer’s specific skin conditions. Rather than giving customers vague descriptions of products, experts in skincare focus on the needs of the client to recommend professional grade treatment systems to combat skincare problems and worries.

In May of 2012, Skin Trends contacted Coalition, looking to find a platform that would work best for their unique services. As a newcomer to the world of ecommerce, Skin Trends was not seeking to find out whether or not ecommerce worked for them, but rather were looking to find a platform that afforded the best fit for their exceptional business model. Skin Trends wanted every feature that an enterprise shopping cart like Magento could offer. Coalition helped them choose the shopping cart and winnow the features down to only proven winners that would help increase conversions and drive sales. As a result, it is highly likely that the new and more effective website will be nominated for many awards.

To fulfill the goals laid out by Skin Trends, Coalition set up a full-scale ecommerce solution, using Magento Community Edition for site design and development. The site is mobile friendly, using the latest responsive design technology, and offers features like live chat, rewards and customer loyalty programs, integration with major shipping outlets like UPS and USPS, third-party email systems, social media, YouTube and Vimeo video, subscription billing systems, conversion optimization, jQuery slideshows and more.

Although we faced some challenges in completing the huge project and meeting the client’s expectations, the final result was a perfectly engineered system that affords both Skin Trends and their shoppers the best possible experience. Coalition Builds Gentleman Jack AB&L Website for Jack Daniels

Art, Beats + Lyrics was established in 2004 by Jabari Graham. Laid off from his job, Graham was determined to find a new place for himself in the world. So he decided to follow of his longtime dream of creating an environment to showcase unrecognized urban artists.

After using his own funds to create an initial showcase, he eventually met with Dwayne “Dubelyoo” Wright. Graham and Dubelyoo repackaged the events based on Dubelyoo’s personal experience as an artist and Art, Beats + Lyrics was created. Eventually they brought their idea to Jack Daniels and the project became Gentleman Jack Art, Beats + Lyrics. With a broader audience, the project needed a better and more effective website, and that’s where Coalition Technologies enters the picture.

Studio Number One, a Los Angeles creative agency, contacted Coalition in June of 2012 to help with development of a website to promote the upcoming Fall Concert series for Art Beats & Lyrics (sponsored by Jack Daniels’ brand, Gentleman Jack). Coalition worked with the client to overcome some common user experience issues in the design, and helped them to integrate a Drupal PHP project on a Windows 2008 R2 Server operated by the Jack Daniels’ parent company.

For this project, Coalition was involved with User Experience Consulting to ensure that visitors to the site had plenty of features to look at without getting bored. To that end, Coalition provided website design and development. mobile landing page development (x3), integration with SMS text messaging systems, integration with Brown Foreman Web Services API (customer subscriptions, newsletter, etc), video integration, custom developed audio playback, ticketing system for events, custom age gate (limits visitors under 21) and more.

Faced with a very short timeline and limited access to the web server at the end of the project, Coalition was still able to find a way to work around the challenges and deliver a great looking, feature rich site.

Now the site is chock full of information. If you want to learn more about undiscovered urban artists, or about the show and its partnership with Jack Daniels, check out the Gentleman Jack website. You can even view information about past shows and current artists. Check the calendar to find out when the show is hitting your town or sign up for alerts about the show and its artists.

Custom Programming and Development for an Anonymous Client.

Anonymous Content is a Los Angeles-based production and management company, whose influence impacts every aspect of the media landscape. The company focuses on the careers of directors, writers, actors, and comedians in feature films, television, commercials, music videos and more. Along with their clientele, our friends at Anonymous Content have built an exceptional reputation for themselves in the entertainment and advertising industries.

Whether signing a commercial producer or engaging in social media, Anonymous Content is continually growing and expanding its client offerings. But in order to demonstrate and reflect this growth, Anonymous Content needed to make some serious adjustments to its website.

Anonymous contacted Coalition Technologies back in March of 2012, as they were looking to implement a custom project management tool as an add-on for their website. This would allow them to support a national and international team with a common web application and database. After providing an initial consultation on server and IT requirements, we were able to help them define the feature set, user experience, navigation flow, and design of their new and improved website.

For the scope of the project, we built a custom PHP & Ajax-driven application that allows Anonymous Content to create new users with varying permission levels, update their entire project list with contact information, status dates, personnel, participating companies, and more. The site was developed to provide mobile friendly responsive layouts, as well as custom reporting exports that can be downloaded or emailed. Visitors will also find custom tutorials, search functions, and more.

In order to make the project a success, Coalition had to process a significant amount of data. In addition, we needed to perform a migration of data from a non-digital / non-organized format to a viable web database. There was also the training of involved personnel from Anonymous Content, creation of help documents and tutorials, etc to be done in order to make the project according to the specifics requested by the client.

The project was an astounding success and we feel privileged to have worked with Anonymous Content. If you’d like to check out their site for yourself, visit anonymouscontent.com.

Coalition Technologies and RMG Club: A Match Made in Golf Heaven

RMG Club is redefining golf in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in January of 2012, this unique golf course management company operates three gorgeous courses in the Puget Sound area, and is providing golfers with conveniences that you seldom see. According to the company’s mission:

RMG Club exists to bring a greater golfing experience to our valued members and guests at an unprecedented value. We are revolutionizing the golfer’s experience through friendly service, innovative membership opportunities, consistently outstanding facility conditioning, exciting dining possibilities, and welcoming social atmosphere; making sure RMG Club is your home away from home.

The company runs 3 different golf courses and restaurants. If you’ve ever played at the McCormick Woods Golf Course, the Oakbrook Golf Course or the Classic Golf Club, you’ve seen their incredible facilities firsthand.

RMG Club reached out to Coalition for the design and development of their website. We worked with the company to create a more contemporary, technically advanced feature set and design for their existing site, in order establish a higher value in their offerings. Members can now enjoy interactive features like the ability to quickly schedule tee times, and the ability to stay up to date on upcoming events with the interactive special events calendar. We also created menus and restaurant pages for each RMG restaurant.

We built the website using the WordPress platform, and trained their administrator to use all of the interactive tools. Now our friends at RMG Club can easily manage their content on their own and ensure that their customers are always aware of upcoming events and promotions. As with any major project, though, we faced certain challenges. For instance, when we integrated Club Prophet, a third party Point of Sale system, we found that it wasn’t the most web friendly system available, but we overcame the challenge and the client was very satisfied with the results of our work.

If you live in the Pacific Northwest and enjoy a good game of golf, check out RMG Club today. Even if you’re not a golf enthusiast, check out the site to see one of the latest Coalition Technologies success stories. We are proud of our partnership with RMG Club, and we congratulate them on the launch of their fantastic new website.

Sbicca Del Mar – Another Responsive Design Success for Coalition

At Coalition Technologies, we have the pleasure of working with all types of businesses: online stores, tech companies, informational resources, and even the occasional restaurant. Case in Point: Sbicca Del Mar. The restaurant, owned by proprietor Dan Sbicca, specializes in fine California cuisine, made from farm-fresh local produce and assembled to perfection, guaranteed to satisfy any appetite.

On their menu, you’ll find such delectable options as “Burgundy braised short ribs with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, thyme demi and horseradish sauce.” Or your might try the “Pan roasted Alaskan halibut with pea puree, fingerling potatos confit, pickled carrots & balsamic creme fraiche.” No matter what you try at this classy eatery, you’re guaranteed to experience true culinary bliss.

When we began our work with Sbicca, the company was already working with a graphic design team. The designers reached out to Coalition to implement a custom WordPress development using responsive design, and Coalition was up to the task. We developed their site using .PSD files that the designers submitted to us, and we implemented custom fonts, styling and graphics.

The Sbicca site now features menus, custom contact forms, personal bios, special event announcements and even email integration, but its greatest feature is arguably its responsive design. At Coalition Technologies, we believe in staying on the cutting edge of new technologies, and our developers have been using responsive design to create desktop and mobile-friendly websites for many of our clients in recent months.

As the digital landscape evolves, and more people are surfing the web on mobile devices, it’s becoming absolutely crucial that websites have responsive design capabilities. In other words, a website must appear presentable and user-friendly on any web-enabled device, regardless of its shape or size. Now, when people visit the Sbicca Del Mar, they can experience the full benefit of responsive design.

Despite the short turnaround time and complex design demands, we completed the project without a hitch and are proud of the finished result. You can now visit the website yourself and view everything from press clipping to menu items. Check out the fully intuitive web pages, and if you’re ever in San Diego County, experience Sbicca for yourself.
