The center was established in 1891 in a rented four-bedroom home in Jamaica, Queens. Through partnering with other generous organizations, they’ve been able to build their institution to what it is today and continuously expand its services to include a responsive ER unit, Ambulatory Care, and Women’s Health Services.
Equally impressive is Flushing Hospital Medical Center. It was founded in 1884 by a fearless group of women who started with a bed in one room of a rented house. Today, FHMC has expanded to become a 293-bed voluntary, not-for-profit teaching hospital. For more than a hundred years, they’ve been serving a diverse clientele and have become a well-respected institution. Robotic Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Addiction Services, and Ambulatory care services are just a few of the extraordinary services for which they are known.
James Brady was the former White House Press Secretary for Ronald Reagan. After miraculously recovering from a gunshot wound to the head, he continued his duties at the White House. As a result, The James and Sarah Brady Institute for Traumatic Brain Injury was opened in NYC in 1994 to help others receive exemplary care for their injuries.
