Overview
Michel et Augustin’s U.S. store brings their playful French spirit and gourmet cookies to life with a smooth, story-driven Shopify experience. The brand had two websites and neither reflected the brand’s current vision of being the “Troublemaker of Taste”. One website’s shopping process was complicated with many images and animations. The other website lacked basic functionalities and did not reflect the brand’s creative spirit. They contacted us to build a new website that was fast, responsive, and showcased the brand’s unique identity.

Problem
After successfully launching their Cookie Squares brand in Whole Foods, the client reached out to us to redesign their website and grow their brand. As online orders grew, they needed a single website that was simple yet creative and easy to shop on. Additionally, to help boost engagement and conversions, the client needed the website to have stronger promo messaging, gifting options, and upsell features.
The client wanted to be able to easily add, remove, and update product tags on their own. We worked closely with the client to select a theme that would be compatible with their preferred apps.
Solution
Website Design and Development
The main navigation was designed with a smoother browsing experience in mind. New dropdowns were added. We added a custom gifting feature to the cart page, allowing customers to mark orders as gifts, select decorative tags, and include personalized messages. We added Shopify Flow and the Upsellio BOGO & Free Gifts app to enable flash sales, bundle options, and Buy One Get One offers, and created a new optimized footer to reflect the brand’s style.


Our team implemented a custom promotional messaging system that shows active promos for items added to carts. We also integrated the Shopify Ajax API to support and encourage gift options, upsell messaging, and cart value incentives.
We created a dedicated News Page, styled with banners and dropdowns to easily access recipes. The What We Bake page was redesigned to showcase products and integrate the Instagram gallery. We installed Theme OS2.0 to enable the Shopify Boost AI Search & Filter app, and added custom coding for tag filtering for additional sorting options on the category page. Our design team also refreshed the brand’s logo.
Search Engine Optimization
Our SEO team implemented a comprehensive Shopify SEO strategy to attract new audiences to the website. We analyzed Google Analytics data to identify customer demographics, interests, and shopping behaviors. We also cleaned up their data by filtering out referral spam and ghost traffic. To help boost customer engagement and website traffic, we added new blog articles and optimized copy across the website.
Final Product
Results
The new user-friendly, fast, and high-performing website Shopify website earned strong praise from both the client and their customers. Promotional messaging was more effective, and the overall shopping experience was smoother.
Within two years, ranking keywords grew from 199 to 988. Keywords ranking on the first page grew from 20 to 152, a 660% increase. The number of SERP snippets grew by 811.1%

Month over month, organic performance showed strong growth across key metrics. Organic sessions increased by 33.9%, while the organic event count grew by 38.4%. Transactions surged by 65.8%, and new users saw a 25.7% increase. Organic revenue rose by 68.6%, accompanied by a 21.5% rise in the organic conversion rate.
Total sessions grew by 19.6%, and new users increased by 28.4%. Overall conversions improved by 50.3%, and conversion rate climbed to 34.4%. Overall transactions grew by 120%, and clicks increased by 25% compared to the previous month.
Our link-building team secured PR articles and guest posts on multiple sites and publications. We pursued relevant mentions and quote opportunities, monitored unlinked brand mentions, and engaged with relevant discussions on forums and community sites. Quarter over quarter, total revenue increased by 39.8%, with organic revenue growing by 47.6%. Additionally, year-over-year impressions rose by 30.8%.
