Overview
Savory Pantry’s existing site still looked on-brand, but the backend had started to feel outdated. Checkout, inventory, and basic site management were becoming harder to maintain without workarounds. The client wanted to update their site. They reached out to us to rebuild their ecommerce site on Shopify.
See how we launched a new Shopify website, migrated the existing platform, and integrated Shopify’s POS into the build so inventory could be managed in one place across both retail and online. We added bundle-building tools, product reviews, live chat, and Instagram integration to better support how customers browse and buy gifts and specialty food items.
Problem
Since opening in 1998, The Savory Pantry has built its reputation around thoughtfully curated specialty foods, pantry items, recipes, and cocktail essentials. The team has constantly launched new products and culinary trends, helping them earn a loyal following both online and at its brick-and-mortar store. As the business grew, the site went through several updates and became difficult to maintain.
The client wanted to move away from their existing setup because of security concerns around payments and overall platform reliability. A lot of the friction came from how disconnected things were behind the scenes. Inventory, customer records, and order management lived in different systems, including Mail Order Manager. That meant more manual handling than the team wanted, especially when syncing retail and ecommerce activity.

Checkout was another pain point. Customers often didn’t see shipping costs until late in the process, and discounts weren’t always visible until they had completed several steps in checkout.
Merchandising also needed attention. The business was leaning more into gifting, curated bundles, and higher-value product combinations, but the existing website didn’t really support that type of setup. There wasn’t much flexibility to build product sets or encourage larger orders in a structured way.
On top of that, the recipe page and content areas had become outdated. Some of the content was no longer relevant to how the brand was now positioned, and there wasn’t a clear system in place to maintain it going forward.
Solution
Web Design & Development
We rebuilt Savory Pantry on Shopify while keeping the same look and feel customers already knew. The homepage was restructured with a clearer layout and a custom mega menu to make browsing easier across product categories.

Product pages were updated. We added vendor details, recipe links, and structured product content using metafields so the team could manage it more easily going forward. Our team also developed a Recipe page that functions as the brand’s blog, alongside an All Collections page that showcases the full range of products and brands the retailer carries.
We also built a custom “Build Your Own Bundle” feature that allows customers to put together their own gift boxes, mix products, and build larger orders with pricing rules tied to quantity and bundles.
Shopify Payments and shipping were configured as part of the rebuild so checkout runs consistently from start to finish.
Integrations
Shopify POS
We connected Shopify POS so online and in-store sales run through the same system. Inventory and customer data now stay in sync instead of being managed separately. This removed the need to maintain Mail Order Manager alongside the website.
Judge.me Reviews
Judge.me was installed to handle product reviews across the site. It was set up on product pages so customers can see feedback without leaving the page they’re on.
Chatty AI Live
Chat was added so customers can get help while shopping. It handles common questions during browsing and checkout.
Foursixty (Instagram Feed)
We integrated Foursixty to pull Instagram content onto the homepage to show shoppers how customers used and gifted the brand’s products.

Results
Managing inventory, customer data, and orders all within the new Shopify website helped to reduce a lot of manual work the team previously did. Integrations for reviews, chat, and Instagram content all support product discovery and customer questions in a more direct way without changing how the site feels to returning shoppers. Checkout is simpler, with consistent shipping and discount behavior that removes uncertainty during purchase.
The Build Your Own Bundle allows customers to mix and match items for purchase or gifting, without the team needing workarounds or manual setups.
On the backend, Shopify POS ties retail and online sales together so inventory stays aligned across channels. That removed a lot of duplicate tracking and helped clean up day-to-day operations.
